Time Warner Cable News: Children Celebrate 'Noon Year' at SUNY Poly Children's Museum

Children of all ages rang in the new year during the day this New Year's Eve.

SUNY Poly Children’s Museum of Science and Technology held its 11th annual "Noon Year's Eve" event. Children and their families enjoyed several activities, including face painting and various experiments.

Event coordinators say it allows the kids to enjoy the New Year without staying awake too late.

"Children need a chance to celebrate as well," said Catherine Gilbert, the museum's vice president. "They're very aware of the fact that time is passing, and that all of these celebrations are underway, and it's wonderful to give kids and families a time to celebrate at a time when kids are at their best."

The event also featured a special parade for the children and a big countdown at noon.
