Nanotechnology. For the film industry, it's the perfect storm of art and science.

"All the special effects and even the new lighting technology, there are lots of nanotechnologies being developed and implemented," said Alain Kaloyeros, SUNY Polytechnic Institute founding president & CEO, who heads CNSE’s CNY Hub for Emerging Nano Industries.

And now it can all be done at the CNY Hub for Emerging Nano Industries.

So far, it has two tenants.

The first film made out of the hub, American Dresser, just wrapped production.

Actors Tom Berenger and Keith David had starring roles and say working out of the CNY hub yields many possibilities.

"There's incentives in the difference of the weather aspect," said Keith David. "In the summer time you have this beautiful country side that could be anywhere. That could be dressed as anywhere. In the winter, you don't have to go to Canada. You can stay right here."

"You can build five or six major sets on this huge stage," said Tom Berenger. "And then take one down and put another one up."

Over the next seven years, the hub is projected to bring $150 million and 350 jobs to the region.
