“...We look toward a new world class institution, now known as SUNY Polytechnic Institute. SUNY Poly is a merger between SUNYIT in Marcy and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany. This new institution is a world leader in nanoscience education. Nano's foremost brilliant minds are here to teach our students, yet it's so much more than a name change. Just as construction had neared completion, it required a vast expansion. The clean room space has increased, the amount of people who work there has grown from 1,500 to 2,100. Another building is being constructed that will expand the size and scope of the project. Directly adjacent to SUNY Poly is the Marcy Nanocenter site. This is an economic development site ready to hold three nanotechnology chip fabrication plants. It is the major economic development project not only for this county, but for the entire Mohawk Valley. It is an investment in our region's future..."
