Capital Region tops in advanced industries
Albany
If you want a job with a science and engineering focus that relies heavily on research and development, then the Capital Region is a great place to work.
A new report by the Brookings Institution found that the Capital Region's so-called advanced industries sector added 4,740 jobs from 2010 to 2013 to reach 38,700, an increase of 4.5 percent over that period.
That's the largest percentage increase of any metro area in the Northeast, including Boston, and it's a higher percentage increase than big-time, high-tech metros such as Seattle and San Jose, Calif., which is the middle of Silicon Valley. The report looked at the top 100 metro areas in the United States.
