  • 1 out of every 6 American womenhas been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed rape; 2.8% attempted rape). 2
  • From 1995-2010, 9% of rape and sexual assault victims were male. 3
  • Approximately 4/5 of rapeswere committed by someone known to the victim. 4
  • Sexual assault is one of the most under reported crimes, with 68% still being left unreported. 5
  • Victims of sexual assault are 3 timesmore likely to suffer from depression, 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol, 26 times more likely to abuse drugs, and 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide. 6
