Troy Record: Hitachi Chemical partners with SUNY Poly

Albany >> The State University of New York Polytechnic Institute’s Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering recently announced that Hitachi Chemical Co. will establish its North American chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) computer chip manufacturing process development headquarters at the Albany NanoTech Complex. This will be the first CMP research and development venture outside Japan.

The agreement is not only expected to generate $1.5 million in investments, including tools and infrastructure development, but will also create or support up to 30 jobs, as Hitachi Chemical partners with SUNY Poly CNSE to research and develop next-generation CMP slurries for its global clientele.
