In order to allow service and repair to our main electrical switchgear, it will be necessary to shut down the electrical service to the entire campus on Saturday, August 5. The shutdown is expected to start at 6am and last for 4 hours, during which the academic buildings and residence halls will operate on the emergency generators.

Since the emergency generators in the academic buildings have limited capabilities, the buildings are planned to be closed and the card readers disabled. Anyone requiring emergency access to the academic buildings must contact University Police at x7222.

Before leaving your office on Friday, August 4, please turn off all equipment such as computers, monitors, lights, copy machines, printers, etc. Because the shut-down is expected to be no more than 4-hours, items in refrigerators are expected to remain cool over the period.

Anyone who has refrigerated items or equipment that must remain powered up during the shutdown should contact Facilities at x7456.
