Utica Observer-Dispatch: Envisioning city's resurgence,
Brodocks converting building into lofts

I wanted to share with you the following article that was published by the Utica Observer-Dispatch:

 

When Craig and Barbara Brodock look out the window of one of the loft apartments they're building on the fourth floor of the Brodock Press building, they have a bird's-eye view of the construction along the North-South Arterial.

When Craig and Barbara Brodock look out the window of one of the loft apartments they’re building on the fourth floor of the Brodock Press building, they have a bird’s-eye view of the construction along the North-South Arterial.

They also can see the F.X. Matt Brewing Co. and the brewery district in the distance from the building they own at 502 Court St.

And they can see the city’s potential.

“The mayor talked to us and showed us what was going on in the city,” Craig Brodock said. “There seems to be a resurgence in downtown.”

As part of that rebirth, the Brodocks – like other developers — have been busy building four loft apartments.

It’s a test, Barbara Brodock said, and if successful, could lead to 25 to 30 more over the next several years.
