Now that the Army Corps of Engineers has signed off on wetland mitigation plans, work at the site in Marcy being marketed to computer chip manufacturers is about to begin.
“I have a nice three-ring binder with the validated permit,” said Steve DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley EDGE economic development agency, who is overseeing the project. “We are preparing to begin the mitigation work in stages.”
The first project to go online will be the creation and enhancement of wetlands in Oriskany Flats, which will offset the loss of wetlands at the Marcy site.
As that project ramps up, on-site improvements in Marcy can begin, including clearing land, storm drainage improvements, and stream and wetland work.
