Any user currently running Windows XP on their PC as of April 8 may receive a pop-up message stating the following:

Windows XP End of Support is on April 8, 2014 click here to learn more.

This means that there will be no more security updates issued by Microsoft for this operating system leaving it vulnerable to exploitation.

ITS has been working on an upgrade plan for those users still on Windows XP PC's. In the coming weeks, your PC will be upgraded or replaced with a current supported operating system. This will require some downtime on your part to make the transfer, so you should plan accordingly.

As most attacks occur via email and web, it is advisable that you refrain from any risky behavior including opening links that are not familiar until your system has been upgraded.
