MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - There's a buzz in the air about thousands of high paying jobs that are expected to come to the region in the near future. Local officials are excited about what this means for the area. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday that more than 2,000 jobs will be coming to the region between General Electric confirmed as a tenant at Quad C on SUNY POLY Campus and the construction of a new NANO facility by a company called AMS.

"This is the biggest news this area has received economically in 50 years," said Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, (D) 119th District. "And if we look at the Albany Region and what Nanotech has done there, it's transformed the Capital District and it will transform the Mohawk Valley."

"When you see a lot of these young people looking into these new emerging technologies and industries to know that they can stay here now after they are educated so there will be a lot of opportunities, construction jobs, there will be various elements of work that will be available," said Senator Joseph Griffo, (R) 47th District.
