UTICA, N.Y. - The Midtown Utica Community Center. Ever hear of it? It's still pretty new, opening last year on Faxton Street, in Utica. And the need is great.

SUNY Poly students delivered donations intended for the local refugee population. Last year, the focus was toys. This year, clothes.

Lance Tlustos, from the Student Veterans Organization, “Immigrants who come from a different country leave behind all their belongings and have to start over again. You can imagine how hard that is for someone to come here without any belongings and we like to step in and help them.”

This center welcomes newly resettled refugees from all over the world, helping with cooking, financial literacy, and language.

It opened in July of 2014.
