ALBANY - Getting kids involved in science, technology, engineering and math.

That was the goal Saturday at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

The institute kicked off "Nano-vember" on Saturday with a community day.

People were able to get a tour of the facilities, and get some hands-on experience with the technology.

There was also a range of family-friendly activities.

Nano-vember is a month-long series of events designed to inspire children to get excited about STEM.

“One of the most important things we can do here is to get kids while they're young, get them excited about science, about math, and about technology,” explained Jerry Gretzinger with SUNY Polytechnic Institute. “When they get to the point where they can look at careers, they'll be ready for the kind of jobs that are being created here in the 21st century economy in New York.”

This is the event’s eighth year.
