SUNY Poly is going purple! The campus officially kicked off the first relay for life event this afternoon - hoping to put an end to a disease that has taken so many.

Its an event that has taken college campus's by storm- “Its a great thing for the campus the kids are going to love it.”

Relaying to raise money and put an end to cancer - And this year some new faces are joining the task force- SUNY Poly Technical Institute began their preperations today for their very first relay.

"Colleges is a huge area for the American Cancer Society and for Relay for Life. Upstate NY in particular has had alot of colleges that are hosting relays over the years so it is exciting to see a younger generation picking up this torch and taking pride and taking a stand against cancer.

“And while relay wont officially start until April- the students have started the process this early to ensure it will have an original Wildcat take on the classic event.”

So it's um for breast cancer awareness... basically you shoot ping pong balls into bra cups and whoever gets like the most points you play with two players and the person with the most wins a prize. We just thought it would be a good way to fight cancer in general. “

“We are always looking to beat cancer we have always had family members who have had cancer so you know its not a good sight. So we would like to fight cancer and cure it!”

Students and community members will take their first steps toward finding a cureIon the campus grounds this April.
