The brain experiences rapid change and development, especially during childhood. That's why a SUNY Poly professor presented key youth brain related research on the effect maltreatment has on the brain today to local service providers and school personnel.

Dr. Joanne Joseph: “We need to start intervening. We need to start putting our money and resources to our children early in life because the payoff is immense.”

Doctor joseph says maltreatment can affect the way kids learn...and even how their immune system operates later in life.
