The goal of Research Compliance is to ensure that research and scholarship performed at SUNY Polytechnic Institute is conducted without bias, and with the highest scientific and ethical standards. The Director of Research Compliance (DRC) is responsible for oversight, monitoring, development, and promulgation of policies and programs, and administration of review committees (where applicable) for the following compliance areas: Protection of Human Subjects; Investigator Financial Conflicts of Interest; Institutional Biosafety; Radiation Safety; Responsible Conduct of Research and Scholarship; and Research Integrity.
The DRC interacts with federal, state and other regulatory agencies and works collaboratively with SUNY Poly’s safety offices. SUNY Polytechnic Institute values integrity and accountability in the conduct of all research and scholarship.
Compliance while performing research with external funds, especially from a federal source, is essential. Accepting financial support entails further obligation to ensure the ethical conduct of research activity and the appropriate stewardship of funds and resources.
