Admission Guidelines
All applicants to the CAS Nursing Education program must possess a master's degree with a major in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program with a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must possess a current unrestricted, unencumbered license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State. (The applicant is required to report all licenses/registrations in all jurisdictions and/or states in which a license/registration is or has ever been held, including any registrations through occupational licensing boards or emergency medical services that the applicant holds or has ever held. This includes any active or inactive licenses/registrations that have ever been encumbered, disciplined, sanctioned or terminated at the time of application to the graduate program.) All applicants must demonstrate evidence of the equivalent of at least 2000 hours work experience as a RN by the start of the first semester of study. ll applicants must demonstrate successful completion of an undergraduate course in basic statistics with a grade of C or better. Out-of-state applicants must possess a current unrestricted license as a Registered Professional Nurse in their respective state.
International Applicants Only: International Applicants must possess the equivalent of a master's degree in nursing. International applicants must possess the equivalent of a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in their respective country.
Application Instructions
- Submit the online Application for Graduate Admission
- Pay the $60 Graduate Application Fee
- Request and submit official transcript(s) from all colleges previously attended, including any in-progress coursework, that reflect completion of a MS in Nursing
- Following submission of your application, check your email for a link to your Application Status Portal to upload the required application materials outlined below
Required Application Materials
- Contact information for at least two (2) references from professional nurses or nursing program faculty
- Writing sample adhering to specific guidelines (guidelines outlined in your Application Status Portal)
- Professional Experiences form (accessible in your Application Status Portal)
Important Notes
- Application Fee: The application fee is waived for military veterans, active-duty military, reserve and guard members, and their spouses and dependents; SUNY Poly alumni; current matriculated students; and graduates of the following opportunity programs: EOP, HEOP, and SEEK.
- Official Transcripts: Official transcripts can be sent electronically to graduate@sunypoly.edu or mailed directly from the college or university to SUNY Polytechnic Institute Graduate Admissions, 100 Seymour Road, Utica, NY 13502
- Foreign Transcripts: Foreign transcripts and documents must be professionally translated in English and evaluated. Applicants must use a service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. We require a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculated. http://naces.org/
