The engineering technology programs at SUNY Polytechnic Institute are accredited by ETAC/ABET, the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET.
Mission
The mission of the Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program at SUNY Poly is to provide quality undergraduate studies in EET. The goals of the program are to prepare students to enter professional careers and graduate study, and to find employment in their field after graduation. The program values and encourages academic and intellectual achievement of the highest quality and the technical competencies inherent to the field of EET. The faculty are committed to the integration of these elements into a coherent program of higher education.
Program Educational Objectives
The core educational objectives of the EET program are to collaborate with industry, business, government, and other academic institutions to ensure that graduates:
- Have applied engineering skills necessary to obtain gainful employment in their chosen professional field and the ability to progress to higher levels of responsibility.
- Are equipped with practical problem-solving and hands-on skills rooted in the fundamental areas of EET.
- Are committed to professional development such as continuing education, professional societies, and/or professional registration.
Student Outcomes
Electrical Engineering Technology graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
- Apply modern technology tools, such as software and test equipment, to analyze, simulate, design and improve electrical systems.
- Apply digital and analog electronics to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems.
- Apply microprocessors/microcontrollers to existing and new components, subsystems, and systems.
- Apply programming concepts and application software to general purpose and specific purpose systems.
- Apply mathematics, physics and sciences to solve technical problems.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Function effectively as part of a project team.
- Recognize the need for professionalism, excellence, and continuous improvement.
