To SUNY Poly Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As part of SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s efforts to provide regular updates regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and in order to maintain the health and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff, the purpose of this message is to inform you that the University at Albany was notified by the Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) that there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 amongst its community.

What We Know

Per UAlbany President Havidan Rodriguez’s message, the individual, who resided at an off-campus location, will remain isolated. Please note that we have no reason to believe at this time that this individual has any connection to SUNY Poly.

What SUNY Poly is Doing

The health of our students, faculty, and staff, as we will continue to underscore, is our top priority.

We are consulting with the ACDOH, and they are connecting with anyone who may have been in contact with the individual who was primarily on campus to attend classes in the Business Building. While we do not have any information indicating the individual came into contact with anyone at our Albany campus, if SUNY Poly students are concerned they likely did, they should contact ACDOH at (518) 447-4580 and AVP of Student Affairs, Diana Dumesnil at ddumesnil@sunypoly.edu.

We will continue to focus on health first and foremost, while sharing information, because we know it is important to be as transparent with you and as proactive as possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Grace Wang
Interim President
