AI for All at SUNY Polytechnic Institute is a campus-wide initiative to integrate artificial intelligence across academics, research, operations, and community partnerships. The program reflects SUNY Poly’s belief that all members of the community should have opportunities to learn, apply, and lead with AI—ensuring AI education and tools are accessible, inclusive, and ethical.
“From the classroom to the lab, we are committed to advancing AI research and applications. AI for All ensures SUNY Poly remains at the forefront of innovation, ethics, and real-world impact.”
- SUNY Poly President, Dr. Winston Soboyejo
At its core, AI for All provides students, faculty, and partners with training, resources, and platforms to thrive in an AI-driven world. The initiative focuses on three key areas:
Curriculum: AI Education Across Disciplines
AI is integrated across all four SUNY Poly colleges—from first-year seminars to advanced degrees. Students in computer science, data science, business, health informatics, engineering, humanities, and social sciences all gain hands-on experience in:
- AI literacy and applications
- Ethics and critical engagement
- Real-world problem solving
Dozens of AI-related courses are already offered, with more under development.
Research & Innovation: Leading AI in the Lab and Beyond
Faculty in SUNY Poly’s interdisciplinary research centers are driving innovation in fields such as:
- Cybersecurity and quantum computing
- Semiconductors and advanced manufacturing
- Health care and life sciences
These projects produce practical tools and solutions that can be applied in classrooms, laboratories, and businesses, strengthening SUNY Poly’s leadership in AI research.
Workforce Development: Preparing Professionals for an AI-Driven World
Our expert faculty and industry partners deliver:
- Professional development workshops
- Public seminars
- Industry-specific credentialing programs
Together, we’re cultivating a dynamic AI community that prepares professionals across disciplines for the jobs of tomorrow.
Why It Matters
AI for All is already producing interdisciplinary collaborations and practical tools across campus. Stakeholders include:
- Current students and faculty
- K-12 learners and regional educators
- Industry and professional partners
- Global academic collaborators
From computer scientists to artists, from educators to entrepreneurs—AI for All invites everyone to be part of the future.
Research and Innovation Centers
These centers cultivate a dynamic environment for collaborative, interdisciplinary research and innovation in areas of strategic importance to the institution and its partners. While each center is focused on its core disciplinary mission, many are increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence into their research, expanding the scope and impact of their work.
From materials science and nanoengineering to health informatics and advanced manufacturing, AI is being used as a tool to enhance data analysis, improve system efficiency, and enable new modes of discovery. This integration is helping to create a more agile research ecosystem and opening new pathways for student engagement in high-impact projects.
SUNY Poly’s research centers also support global engagement through growing international collaborations, including partnerships in Africa focused on ethical and inclusive technological development. These partnerships reflect SUNY Poly’s commitment to fostering global research connections and training a new generation of scientists and innovators who are equipped to apply AI thoughtfully in diverse contexts.
Together, these efforts reinforce SUNY Poly’s mission to promote excellence in research and education, while ensuring that AI becomes a meaningful and accessible part of academic and societal progress.
