All registered students will receive a detailed email with move-in instructions the first week in August which will be sent to their SUNY Poly email address.

All registered SUNY Poly students will receive an email regarding move-in information (sent to their SUNY Poly email address).

*Note: Students may not move into their residence hall before the start of the semester unless the Director of Housing has granted permission via email. Students must also be in good standing with the student accounts office before being permitted to move in.

New first-year students will receive an email the first week in August which will include pre-arrival information, move-in instructions, room assignment, suitemate name(s), and additional information. Each student must select a move-in time via the Housing and Dining portal. Move-in times are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. First-year students will begin their new student orientation on August 21 and will receive a detailed schedule prior to.

There are a limited number of moving bins available, so we ask that students, families, and friends plan accordingly. If you own a hand cart, bring it! When the student’s belongings are being unloaded, the driver of the vehicle must remain with their vehicle at all times. After the belongings have been unloaded, the driver must move their vehicle as quickly as possible from the unloading zone and park in the designated lot to make room for the next vehicle.

Note: If you require accommodations during move in due to a disability, please contact the Student Accessibility Services Office (SAS) at 315-792-7170.

Tips for Move-In Day

  • Follow the signage for First-Year Move-in Day!
  • Take a breath and enjoy the momentBring a bottle of water and snacks
  • Pack efficiently. Using bins and boxes to pack belongings with the student’s name clearly identified will make it easier for staff to efficiently deliver student belongings to their room assignment.
  • If you are bringing a car to remain on campus, remember the make, model, and license plate to obtain a parking sticker from University Police located in Kunsela Hall, Room B126.

Room Condition Report

All residential students must complete the Room Condition Report (RCR) upon checking into their room and/or suite. Your Resident Advisor (RA) will assist with completing the form. At the conclusion of the semester and after students move out, professional staff will inspect each room for damages. If damages are found, students will be charged accordingly.
