Exemption from the English Proficiency Test if they:
- Have graduated from a U.S. accredited high school or English is the native language
- Are transferring or hold a degree from an U.S. accredited university or college
- Speak English as their native language. This exemption refers to students from Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, the British Isles, England, New Zealand, English-speaking Canadian provinces, the Fiji Islands, Jamaica, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, the Virgin Islands, the West Indies, Trinidad, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, and Norway
Mandatory for applicants who are exempt from the English proficiency test:
- Applicants must submit SAT score (College Board School Code: 0755) of 1100 or better when combining the critical reading and math sections or ACT (ACT Code: 2953) of 24 or better in composite score
Mandatory for applicants who speak English as their second language:
- Applicants must submit either TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or iTEP

Graduate students
We will begin to review your application for Spring semester in early October and for Fall semester in early May. Acceptance packet will be shipped out by FedEx immediately after the acceptance.
Undergraduate students

Payment for the semester is due at the time of registration. For information about current costs, please visit our undergraduate tuition & fees and graduate tuition & fees page. Please be sure to have your funds available in U.S. dollars prior to arriving on campus.
No. Only American students, refugees, or students with permanent residence status are eligible for financial aid.
First-Year Merit Scholarships and Graduate Assistantship are available to qualifying students based on first-come first-served basis.
For graduate students only
To apply, submit the completed Assistantship Application form with the application for graduate admission. Since assistantships are limited, applicants MUST still show financial documentation for the academic year. Students receiving assistantships will be required to work in their academic department while being paid a small stipend. This is NOT a scholarship. There is no scholarship available.
Undergraduate Degree
For an undergraduate degree, students who enter with no prior University coursework and carry a full course load of 16 or more credits per semester can usually finish in four years. For an undergraduate transfer student, time to completion will depend upon transfer credits applied towards the student's degree program.
Graduate Degree
For a graduate degree, students must complete approximately 33 credit hours (usually 3 semesters or approximately 18 months.) If "Bridge" or "Foundation" coursework is required, the program may take longer to complete. Visit the following link for a listing of our graduate programs.

Generally, you must have completed a four-year degree and have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 by United States standards. Other admission requirements vary by program. For requirements by program, visit Admission Requirements for further information.
Yes, on campus jobs are available to international students. However, on campus jobs are very competitive because jobs are limited. It is not advisable to rely on an on campus job to cover your studying and living costs in the the United States. You are eligible to work a total of 20 hours per week, so if you have more than one position (including an assistantship), the maximum number of hours you are allowed to work is 20 per week.
You are eligible to work off campus on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) after completing two semesters at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
Yes. You need to provide both the original-language academic records and a full, word-for-word English-language translation issued by the academic institution you attended or a professional translation service.
