Environmental Health & Safety

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) serves the SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) community by promoting occupational health and safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance. From Safety Training, Fire Safety and Emergency Response, to Chemical and Regulated Medical Waste Management, to E-Waste and Fluorescent Lamp Recycling, to Drone operations, and Event and Lab Safety, we are committed to developing a culture where safety and health are core values, adopted and practiced throughout all levels.

We are committed to providing high quality consultation that facilitates the SUNY Poly educational mission. EHS works closely with University Police, Facilities Management, and other departments, and fosters partnerships with faculty, students, and staff to enable them to recognize risks and empower them to learn, discover, and work safely, and to minimize injuries, illnesses, environmental impact, and regulatory risks.

Our primary goal is to prevent injury, illness, and environmental damage through the recognition, evaluation, and control of potential hazards arising from campus activities, and to comply with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations.

Most of the links on the EHS web pages are restricted access to SUNY Poly personnel only – requiring a SUNY Poly SITNET login for viewing of the materials.  You may request access by contacting the EHS office at PolyEHS@sunypoly.edu.
