Off-Campus Users

Your campus SITNet ID and password allow you to access the Library’s databases, to request items via Resource Sharing or Interlibrary Loan, to log in and view your loans and requests in Primo VE, and to ask an email Reference question from home.  This account is free to all currently registered students, faculty, and staff. If you do not have a SITNet account, see Information Technology Services’ Accounts page.

For a general and comprehensive search, you can access the library discovery service here, or from the "Search Everything" search bar on the library homepage. But for more specific searches, you can access each database individually:

  1. Go to the library homepage: sunypoly.edu/library
  2. Select Resources > Databases
  3. Select the database you want to use
  4. You will be asked for your username and password. These are your SITNet ID. Log on and start searching!
Please see our Google Scholar web page for instructions on how to set up Google Scholar to recognize that you are a SUNY Poly student.
  1. Go to: sunypoly.edu/library
  2. Select Services > Interlibrary Loan

  1. Go to: sunypoly.edu/library
  2. Select Services > Ask A Librarian
  3. Click Email a Librarian
  4. Please be brief and include as much background information as possible with your question so we can best help you with accessing articles, finding books, or fixing citations. A librarian will respond within approximately one business day.

Note: If you have a more in-depth research question, please call the Reference Desk at 315-792-7251 or use our AskUs 24/7 live reference chat here -- just select Ask Us 24/7 for live chat with a reference librarian.

You can also set up a virtual tutoring appointment with a librarian. Log into Tutortrac with your SITNet ID and password and search the tutoring schedule for "Research Help" or "Citation Help" to find available times to meet with a librarian. Please leave a note that you're looking for virtual help and your librarian will set up a video conference meeting at your chosen time.

Use the SUNY Poly Library Catalog to search for items held at the library.

You can request scanned copies of articles held in our library catalog. You can also request that print books held in the library be shipped to you on loan as a distance student. Please email the library (library@sunypoly.edu) with a link to the book or article you need and we'll make the arrangements.
