Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) prohibits the release of protected student information to anyone except authorized individuals.
If a student wishes to allow another individual, such as a parent or spouse, to access protected information, the student must complete a FERPA release form. The completed form must be returned to the Student Accounts Office before any information can be released.
A new release form must be completed each year. Students may revoke their authorization at any time by providing written notification to the appropriate office.
