There is no cost for services provided at the Wellness Center. All services at the Wellness Center are covered by the mandatory health service fee. We do not bill your insurance company and do not charge or collect co-pays and/or deductibles for services provided at the Wellness Center.
Please note that all external healthcare procedures/services received by the student (i.e. laboratory services, X-rays, urgent care/emergency room visits, etc.) are the financial responsibility of the student. These would include any co-pays, deductibles, or balances billed by the laboratory, hospital, urgent care, emergency room, etc. to the student using personal medical insurance. The Wellness Center provides Medical, Counseling and Health Promotion services. Services are provided by licensed healthcare professionals including a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, a part-time Physician and licensed Mental Health Counselors.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance. Health information is only shared with written consent from the student (or with parent/guardian if under 18), unless a crisis/emergency deems otherwise.
The Wellness Center does not contact parents or legal guardians unless written permission is received (or when deemed necessary with an emergency situation). The Wellness Center staff encourages students to inform and include a parent or legal guardian in their medical care, when necessary and appropriate, to increase the support system and to assist the student with their medical need.
For students under 18 years of age, by law the Wellness Center must obtain the parent or legal guardians signed consent in order to evaluate and treat a minor, unless they are legally independent.
